About the Role
Join Natural England in shaping a future where nature and people thrive. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert data analytics and management to support delivery of the iChem project, which develops, embeds, and reports on the terrestrial indicator under the Environment Improvement Plan (EIP) Outcome Indicator Framework. You will work on chemical pollution impacts on wildlife, a key driver of biodiversity loss, collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners such as Defra, the Health and Safety Executive, and the Environment Agency.
Key responsibilities include leading complex data and spatial analyses, establishing project data standards and quality assurance processes, managing licensing and data sharing agreements, and working with large-scale biological and environmental datasets using R and other tools. You will contribute to enhancing the evidence base to support environmental outcomes aligned with the 25 Year Environmental Improvement Plan.

Experience
- Expert data analysis skills including data plotting and interrogation
- Proficiency in R and GitHub, including creating R scripts for summary statistics
- Experience with data manipulation software such as Excel and PowerBI, and programming languages like R or Python
- Responsible data management and storage
- Experience arranging licensing and data sharing agreements
- Ability to engage with diverse partners and customers to achieve optimal outcomes
- Experience refining data quality assurance processes is desirable
- Knowledge of SharePoint Online for data storage is desirable
- Understanding of chemicals, ecotoxicology impacts on wildlife and habitats, and risk-assessment approaches is desirable
