About the Role
Join National Grid as an Investment Accountant and contribute to a cleaner, greener energy future. You will provide robust financial support across a portfolio of major projects within the National Grid Electricity Distribution business. Your responsibilities include ensuring strong financial reporting, accurate forecasting, and effective project cost management throughout the delivery lifecycle. This role involves building, maintaining, and improving project-level financial reports, setting up new projects for cost tracking, recognising project costs in line with Value of Work Done (VOWD) principles, delivering timely month-end reporting, running monthly forecasts including risks and opportunities, supporting the annual budget and business planning cycle, and upholding financial controls and compliance. You will collaborate closely with Finance Business Partners, Shared Services, and project teams to ensure complete and accurate management accounts. This is a dynamic role requiring flexibility, strong organisation, and effective communication skills to influence both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Experience
Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting expertise. Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality financial outputs in a fast-moving environment. Experience working with project teams and senior stakeholders, building trusted relationships and adding value through insight. Skilled in using large accounting systems with strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reporting capabilities. Experience supporting projects, capital investment, or infrastructure programmes is preferred, or a strong motivation to apply skills in this area.

Qualifications
