About the Role
Join WSP, one of the UK's largest suppliers of Land Services, and contribute to major infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. As a Land and Consents Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering essential services related to land acquisition, valuation, compulsory purchase, compensation, landowner engagement, land access, wayleaves, consents, and negotiations. You will negotiate access to and acquire complex land for high-profile, strategic infrastructure projects, draft and prepare consent documents, and secure appropriate land rights for large-scale developments. Your work will involve utilising statutory powers and mechanisms such as DCO, CPO, TCPA, TWAO, and Hybrid Bills across sectors including highways, rail, aviation, water, gas, and renewables. You will liaise with landowners, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors, and clients, managing and settling compensation claims. This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting early career professionals and contributing to the growth and development of the Land team. The role combines office, home, and on-site working to support land access and acquisition projects through land ownership identification, consultation, valuation, compensation negotiation, GIS, data management, and landowner engagement.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven track record in delivering land and property related services
- Experience negotiating with complex landowners and knowledge of legal processes for property acquisition
- Understanding of landownership and occupation across the UK and implications for securing agreements
- Experience managing and settling voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims
- Experience with high-profile infrastructure schemes in road, rail, gas, electricity, or renewable energy sectors
- Broad knowledge of relevant legislation including Town & Country Planning Act, Electricity Act, Transport and Works Act Orders, Hybrid Bills, and Development Consent Orders
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and supporting early career professionals

About you
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels
- Effective, concise communication with strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Ability to participate in management teams and contribute to team growth
- Motivated to work flexibly across office, home, and site environments
- Full UK driving licence is required

Qualifications
- Associate or full Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or other professional membership is desirable but not essential
- Candidates with relevant transferable skills in land and consents management are encouraged to apply even if not all criteria are met
