About the Role
The Local ECO Manager will manage and develop the Education, Communications and Outreach, and Social Value functions for the contracts, ensuring strategic project plans are delivered to a high standard with measurable results to meet objectives. You will work closely with the Area ECO Manager and lead a team of ECO and Social Value Officers to develop community engagement and social value projects aimed at changing resident behaviours, improving recycling rates, and embedding our contracts within the local community. You will be responsible for the budget, timeline, and quality of project delivery.
You will act as the day-to-day point of contact for the client and site management team and be responsible for developing staff wellbeing events and engagement in collaboration with local contract teams. Building strong relationships with clients (Royal Borough of Kingston, Merton Council, Sutton Council, and Croydon Council), Veolia operations management, and colleagues is essential, responding quickly to queries and providing solutions to maintain a high standard of service.
You will drive the performance of ECO officers by coaching and mentoring them to improve project planning, community engagement approaches, and support their personal goals. You will develop and deliver social value initiatives across local employment, internships, work experience support, and funding programmes for local communities.
Identifying good news stories and collaborating with the regional external engagement team to showcase expertise in behaviour change and social value delivery across digital channels and press will be part of your role. You will also work closely with Veolia operations senior team to develop and deliver internal communications and engagement campaigns.
Additional responsibilities include managing the ECO team budget, overseeing business-as-usual outputs, and providing ECO support to wider contracts as needed.
