
Location
Thames Valley North area including Aylesbury (HP19 8RT), Banbury (OX16 4RZ), Little Marlow (SL7 3SB), Oxford (OX4 4XU).
Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities available, increasing earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Water team. You will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work will ensure all sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and improve Thames Water's environmental impact.
Your responsibilities will include carrying out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns, investigating plant failures, and performing repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions. You may diagnose complex faults and provide technical advice, training, or support to trainees.
Equipment you will work on includes pumps and control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
You will participate in a standby rota following relevant training. All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.

Experience
Time-served electrical apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems, ideally upskilled with a mechanical qualification (NVQ2/3) to work safely and efficiently on mechanical and electrical plant equipment. Experience in a true multi-skilled capacity is essential. Candidates with mechanical or electrical experience only will be considered for development to dual-skilled status.
Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial. Physical fitness is required due to working in confined spaces after successful completion of appropriate training.

Reliable, safety-conscious, and motivated to work in a multi-skilled role. Able to work independently with minimum supervision and provide technical advice and support to others. A valid driving licence is essential.
Qualifications
Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering with mechanical NVQ2/3 upskill is crucial.
