About the Role
Camden Council is committed to making life better for everyone by placing residents and communities at the heart of everything we do. Our Facilities Management (FM) service provides high-quality, not-for-profit maintenance to schools and community sites across Camden, following a ‘Right First Time’ ethos to minimise service disruption.

As a Multi Skilled Commercial Engineer with a plumbing bias, you will be responsible for carrying out plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs, planned preventative maintenance, renewals, and replacements within commercial buildings such as schools and children’s centres. Your work will include routine reactive repairs, planned maintenance, statutory testing, and potentially some design and installation tasks.

All work must comply with industry standards (e.g. SGF20, CIBSE), building and statutory regulations, British standards, and manufacturers’ manuals. You will use your skills and judgement to diagnose compliance and asset failures and determine the best repair solutions.

A key objective is to ensure properties are well maintained to avoid disruption to customer services caused by plant failure or maintenance issues. Your role is vital in enabling staff to focus on their core activities without building-related interruptions.

This post requires an Enhanced DBS check and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Experience
Proven experience across at least two mechanical, electrical, or plumbing (MEP) disciplines, ideally within commercial building maintenance, repairs, and installations. Experience in an education setting is desirable.

You are confident diagnosing building faults, finding cost-effective solutions, and coordinating follow-on works. Strong communication and customer care skills are essential as you will represent Camden FM service and the Council.

You enjoy using technology to optimise building performance, manage workloads, and accurately record works. You have a solid understanding of statutory compliance, health and safety, and safe systems of work. You are able to read drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and identify defects.

Working collaboratively, you contribute to long-term maintenance strategies and energy-efficient solutions, helping keep buildings safe, efficient, and welcoming.

Qualifications
Ideally hold a recognised qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in relevant disciplines.
