About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust as a Network Development Manager within the Delivery Team. You will oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of active travel infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and compliance standards. The role combines technical expertise, project leadership, community engagement, and strategic planning to enhance the National Cycle Network (NCN) and related infrastructure. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful, sustainable outcomes.
Key duties include:
- Leading management of active travel infrastructure design and construction projects from concept through to construction, implementation, and evaluation
- Planning, organising, and attending community engagement activities to ensure a collaborative approach
- Day-to-day management of interdisciplinary project teams
- Sharing knowledge and evidence through reports and presentations to update and influence key external stakeholders such as landowners, local authorities, and volunteers
- Contributing to planning the future network and developing a clear vision for the NCN in your area
- Conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting to demonstrate project progress and impact
This role involves regular travel to different locations to support and deliver projects for the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
Experience
- Practical working knowledge of active travel infrastructure principles and standard practices, including spatial and transport planning awareness
- Technical expertise in producing project outputs
- Knowledge of local and regional transport planning authorities, their processes, and priorities
- Understanding of active travel network design and best practice
- Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and construction regulations
- Experience managing projects and following project management delivery frameworks
- Experience contributing to business development through opportunity generation, bid writing, and budget preparation
