About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Project Officer with expertise in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to join the Newt Conservation Partnership (NCP). This exciting new role involves working collaboratively with regional Project Officers to design and deliver habitat enhancement projects that contribute to biodiversity units and further conservation objectives. The BNG Project Officer will work closely with the BNG Team Lead and regional colleagues, applying ecological knowledge, attention to detail, and BNG skills to design and deliver habitat banks, prepare site budgets, and draft reports. The successful candidate will be employed by Freshwater Habitats Trust and seconded full-time to the Newt Conservation Partnership. NCP is a community-benefit society focused on creating and managing high-quality habitat for the NatureSpace Partnership great crested newt licensing schemes and is expanding its remit to include BNG. The role offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team of botanists, invertebrate biologists, herpetologists, and freshwater conservation experts making a tangible difference in habitat conservation.
Experience
Proven expertise in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and habitat enhancement design and delivery. Experience working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and managing ecological projects is essential.
About you
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong ecological knowledge with a passion for conservation and habitat creation. Excellent communication and report-writing skills are required.
Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent experience in ecology, conservation, or a related field is expected.
