About the Role
The Environment Centre is celebrating its 30th anniversary as a hub for environmental and community action in Swansea. We are home to a range of projects and initiatives that support individuals and communities to take meaningful environmental and climate action. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations and Development Manager to join our senior team and support the sustainable development of our charity.

This key leadership role is responsible for the successful delivery of our core services and activities, strengthening volunteer provision, overseeing fundraising, and supporting the well-being and development of our staff. You will manage day-to-day operations at our Centre, lead volunteer coordination while maintaining our Investing in Volunteers Standard, oversee fundraising activities and impact monitoring, lead HR functions and staff development, and engage with beneficiaries and the wider community.

You will be the public face of the Centre, a first point of contact and a fount of knowledge for all Environment Centre activity. This role involves close collaboration with the Centre Manager, Finance Manager, Engagement & Outreach Manager, and line management of the Administration Officer. You will also deputise for the Centre Manager when required.

Key responsibilities include overseeing building management and maintenance, implementing policies to improve efficiency and revenue generation, managing budgets related to building income and expenditure, maintaining volunteer engagement systems, and contributing to strategic objectives and outcomes. You will also lead fundraising operations, develop monitoring and evaluation approaches, and represent the Centre at relevant meetings.

Requirements

Experience
- Leadership experience in a service delivery or community project role
- Effective staff and volunteer management skills
- Knowledge of funding and fundraising methods with a track record of successful outcomes
- Awareness of legislation and best practice relating to governance, health & safety, and HR

Qualifications
- Desirable: Experience working within the volunteer sector or community engagement
- Desirable: Professional HR and/or Health and Safety experience or training
- Desirable: Background in environmental management or community action
- Desirable: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Desirable: Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh
