As a Power Electronics BESS Field Technician – Energy & Carbon, you will work across client sites primarily in the United Kingdom and Ireland to conduct assessments, inspections, and complete maintenance on energized assets. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance services on various electrical systems, primarily BESS systems, with opportunities in PV and EV charging station systems.

Key responsibilities include leading installation, commissioning, and lifecycle maintenance of integrated microgrid systems across LV/MV networks; acting as on-site SME for power electronics including inverters, converters, transformers, and protection/control systems; driving system integration across PV, BESS, EV charging, and grid interfaces to ensure interoperability; providing technical leadership, mentorship, and safety training to engineers and field technicians; contributing to continuous improvement of product design, commissioning, and service processes; staying current with grid codes, standards, and emerging technologies in renewables and power electronics.

You will commission and validate MV/LV infrastructure including switchgear, relays, and grid interconnections; perform SAT, performance validation, and ensure compliance with grid standards such as G99; conduct advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across electrical and control systems; configure and optimize BMS, EMS, and SCADA systems; perform firmware updates and system tuning; execute preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on BESS, PV, EV, and LV/MV equipment; and ensure strict compliance with safety standards, LOTO, permits, and all regulatory and company requirements.

Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a BESS technician.
- Hands-on experience with microgrids, BESS, solar PV, and EV charging systems.
- Proven experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and field service in complex energy environments.
- Skilled in preventive and corrective maintenance of BESS equipment.
- Strong knowledge of LV/MV electrical systems, protection schemes, and power electronics.
- Experience with SCADA, EMS, BMS, and data acquisition/monitoring systems.

Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics, protection studies, and technical documentation.
- Solid understanding of renewable energy systems, especially energy storage.
- NFPA 70E certification preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows systems.
