About the Role
Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park is a vibrant primary academy with nursery provision, celebrating a diverse community of backgrounds, abilities, faiths, and cultures. We are seeking a Premises Officer to join our team and ensure a safe, clean, and attractive learning environment. You will be responsible for the maintenance, security, health, and safety of the academy site, working collaboratively to support the smooth running of the premises.

Your key responsibilities will include ensuring adherence to health and safety policies by identifying and mitigating hazards promptly, servicing and checking academy vehicles, providing technical and craft support to teaching staff, and maintaining site security. You will also be involved in decorating, repairing, and maintaining the premises, liaising with external contractors, keeping the grounds tidy, monitoring cleanliness of toilets, and assisting with furniture arrangements for events and exams. Regular site tours to keep corridors litter-free and locking gates securely are also part of the role.

This role requires vigilance, practical skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Experience
- Experience working in an inner city school or educational establishment with children and young people is desirable
- Considerable DIY experience and practical skills
- Ability to monitor and report on structural faults and repairs
- Experience in maintenance, security systems, and procedures
- Ability to work evenings and weekends regularly and respond to emergencies outside normal hours

Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements
- Basic training or sound experience in one or more of the following: plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems
- Basic knowledge of heating and ventilating systems and common malfunctions
- Understanding of appropriate cleaning methods and standards
- Ability to monitor and order stocks of materials
