About the Role
Join Stantec’s Regulatory Advice team within the Advisory Services Group, renowned for delivering impactful outcomes across the Water, Energy and Infrastructure sectors. As a Principal Consultant, you will lead high-impact regulatory advisory engagements for clients in regulated sectors, providing strategic, economic, and governance advice on regulatory frameworks, price controls, compliance obligations, incentives, and performance commitments. You will be responsible for engagement leadership, quality assurance, stakeholder management, and mentoring less experienced team members. Additionally, you will contribute to business growth through thought leadership and proposal development, supporting Client Service and Technical Directors in programme and project delivery. Experience
- Senior regulatory experience primarily within the regulated water or energy sectors
- Proven track record in generating solutions to complex industry problems
- Experience with Price Review/revenue-setting processes (e.g., AMP cycles, multi-year determinations)
- Familiarity with assurance standards and approaches (three lines of defence, internal controls, ISAE 3000, audit and evidence packs)
- Strong knowledge of regulation policy and strategy
- Knowledge of cost modelling, benchmarking, or business case appraisal
- Proven success in winning work through proposal writing, account development, and networking
- Excellent written communication skills, able to craft compelling, evidence-led arguments for regulator and board audiences
- Strong stakeholder management skills with credibility at senior levels
- Proven project leadership including planning, resourcing, risk management, and delivery to deadlines
- High analytical capability in interpreting financial and performance data, assessing trade-offs, and forming recommendations
