About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to join our award-winning digital team at Stantec. You will collaborate with leading Analysts and Data Engineering experts to transform how we and our clients harness data, particularly within the water sector. Your work will help clients optimize assets, plan smarter investments, and improve environmental outcomes through cutting-edge analytics.
Key responsibilities include leading data science initiatives by applying expertise in data modelling, cleansing, and analytics to create innovative solutions that drive digital transformation. You will derive powerful insights using predictive analytics and optimization techniques to enable smarter, data-driven decisions. Developing automated tools that enhance efficiency and provide actionable insights will be a core part of your role.
Additionally, you will drive digital innovation by shaping technology and data solutions that transform industry processes. You will work closely with clients in the water industry to understand their needs, design solutions, and deliver high-quality results. Mentoring and supporting junior colleagues to ensure technical excellence and professional development is also essential. You will influence Stantec’s growth by scoping proposals, contributing to technical standards, and helping win new projects.
Experience
Proven experience as a data professional with strong skills in Python, data visualisation, machine learning model development, and cloud solution deployment (Azure). Experience with DevOps principles, version control, and integrating technical solutions into client operations is essential. Familiarity with MS Power Platform, including Power BI and Power Apps, and managing team members developing solutions in these tools is required.

Qualifications
