About the Role
We are seeking a Principal or Associate Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our London team within the Geo-Environmental Business Unit. This unit comprises Land Quality, Ground Investigation, and Groundwater & Geothermal disciplines, delivering diverse projects across sectors including Energy, Defence, Water, Property, and Government Services. As a member of this 100-strong team, you will contribute to delivering technically excellent, client-focused, and well-managed projects. You will collaborate with specialists in land quality, environmental due diligence, ground investigation, groundwater, and geotechnical fields to provide holistic solutions to client needs. The role involves working closely with geo-environmental teams across offices and other planning, environment, and engineering specialists.
This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career by leading projects in contaminated land, site investigation, remediation, and brownfield redevelopment across various market sectors. Responsibilities include line management, driving business development, nurturing client relationships, preparing bids and proposals, project and financial management, designing and overseeing ground investigations, and producing interpretive ground condition reports. You will also mentor and support junior team members, ensuring high technical standards and safe working practices.
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in geology, engineering geology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Proven project management skills including team coordination, resource control, quality assurance, budget and programme management.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental management.
- Knowledge of current contaminated land technical guidance, Part 2A legislation, and the development planning regime.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing detailed Quantitative Risk Assessments is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Aptitude to drive and support business growth regionally, nationally, and internationally is an advantage.

Qualifications
- Degree in geology, engineering geology, environmental science, or related subject.
- Professional qualifications such as SQP under NQMS, QP under DoWCoP, SoBRA Risk Assessor are advantageous.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in current standards and guidance for investigation, assessment, and remediation of contaminated land.
