About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Sustainable Transport Officer to join The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM). RBWM is a unitary authority located in Berkshire, an economically productive and innovative area with proximity to London and major cultural and tourism attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland, and Ascot Racecourse. Reporting to the Infrastructure Planning Manager, you will lead the strategic and operational management of the Highways Development Control Team in its role as the Highway Authority within the planning process. You will assess developer-led highway works proposals to deliver corporate objectives and priorities.
Your responsibilities will include leading the Highways Development Control team, managing workloads and priorities to meet deadlines and statutory Highway Authority responsibilities; collaborating with Planning, Highways, and external consultants to ensure planning applications and highway agreements comply with statutory and local standards; leading the scoping of Transport Assessments including commissioning and reviewing strategic transport modelling outputs; coordinating highways responses on major applications with specialist advice and Public Rights of Way input; and providing advice on legal agreements to secure highway infrastructure, transport improvements, and travel plan contributions arising from development.

Qualifications
Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject with a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
Membership of a relevant professional body with evidence of maintaining professional standards and knowledge.
Experience
Significant experience in highway development control and the planning process, supported by extensive technical knowledge of highway design and construction.
Demonstrable experience in line management with the ability to lead, support and develop teams.
