About the Role
London Gatwick Airport offers an exciting opportunity for a Programme Planning Manager to join our dynamic team at the world's most efficient single runway airport. You will play a key role in shaping our future by supporting the delivery of a substantial investment plan to develop and enhance airport infrastructure and facilities. As Programme Planning Manager (Sustainability), you will support the Programme Manager in delivering the strategic aims and objectives of the business through the development, implementation, and delivery of effective planning and assurance processes across a programme of projects focused on sustainability.
Key projects include replacing boilers with all-electric, non-fossil fuel plants; transitioning to refrigerants with lower global warming potential; upgrading electric vehicle infrastructure; and enhancing water treatment processes. Your role will be crucial in helping Gatwick achieve its sustainability goal of reducing emissions by 2030, giving you a unique opportunity to directly influence Gatwick's journey to Net Zero.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of construction industry experts, you will be involved from the early stages of projects, defining technical scopes, aligning project delivery with business requirements, and ensuring these are carried through from design to construction and handover.
Reporting to the Lead Planning Manager, you will lead the planning of projects across all lifecycle stages, from concept approval to delivery and closeout, ensuring performance targets are consistently met or surpassed on time. Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining schedules for the entire project journey, managing control programmes, contract programme evaluations, assessing compensation events, conducting delay analysis, and driving schedule improvements through the supply chain.
You will also play a major role in leading and managing planning teams, applying your expertise across multiple projects to help achieve strategic goals. Supporting team growth by contributing to standards development, managing, motivating, coaching, and mentoring team members will be key to your role. Additionally, you will review programme progress, assist in trend and change processes, reporting, risk management, and seek efficiencies to positively impact programme outcomes and team performance.
Maintaining world-class health, safety, and environmental standards across the programme and contractors is a priority, as Gatwick aims for excellence in these areas.
