About the Role

We are hiring a Project Controls Manager to join our team delivering a wide range of purpose-driven PMO and Controls services across infrastructure and the built environment, including multiple global programmes. You will contribute analytical skills to prepare and critically evaluate performance measures including earned value and trends across multiple datasets. The role requires the ability to focus on key issues and drive mitigating or recovery actions across projects. You will implement robust project controls processes and toolsets, manage people and tasks effectively, and support project managers in maintaining timely change management processes. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, often in a consultancy capacity, and requires flexibility to travel and work across different sectors.
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme, and commercial management services across sectors such as built environment, defence, energy, water, transportation, health, and care. APD manages projects up to £20bn in scale, offering expertise in programme management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting, and health and care management. Our specialist advisory teams provide transformational services including climate change, cost intelligence, health and safety, land advisory, quality and risk management, and planning PMO.

Experience
- Proven background working on large scale infrastructure projects in sectors such as water, transport, nuclear, and defence
- Experience implementing project controls processes and toolsets
- Proficiency with Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, or other planning and resourcing software
- Experience in project reporting, KPI monitoring, and project reviews
- PMO experience and knowledge of PowerBI is desirable
- Strong stakeholder management skills are advantageous but not essential

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level and/or hold project controls or management qualifications such as APMG Planning and Controls, EVM, PMQ, or Prince2
- Due to the nature of this role, offers may be conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of security clearance
- Knowledge of risk management and reporting including the use of ARM
