About Us at Hounslow
We’d love you to join us at the London Borough of Hounslow! Our people are deeply committed to providing excellent services to our residents, doing all we can to make lives as good as they can be. We are an outstanding council, serving an outstanding borough. With brilliant, visionary leadership, a dynamic Cabinet and a can-do culture, we’ve built strong partnerships which have transformed how we serve one of London’s most diverse boroughs. Hounslow is the world in one place and full of potential. We are stepping up for our residents like never before.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
We live by five core values: Lead with Heart, Do New, Pass on the Power, Harness the Mix and Be a Rock. All our work has equality, diversity and inclusion at its very heart, best articulated in “Harness the Mix”. It's about breaking down barriers between our parts and people and unlocking the problem-solving power of our amazing mix of minds. We serve a diverse community, we have a diverse workforce and we are committed to being an inclusive employer. We work hard to create representation across our workforce and leadership community, we have thriving employee network groups and our learning and development programmes help us lead, model and breathe ways of working that eliminate inequality, inequity, injustice and bias. As part of this and under our commitments as a Disability Confident Employer, we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate our candidates.

About The Role
The council’s Climate Emergency Action Plan (CEAP) sets out four key priorities:
- Decarbonisation of Council operations and estate to achieve net zero by 2030.
- Influence a reduction in wider borough emissions.
- Make the borough resilient to the impacts of climate change.
- Promote sustainable lifestyles for residents and staff.
Your role will be instrumental in delivering against the second and third priorities: influencing a reduction in wider borough emissions while promoting growth and ensuring a just transition; and making the borough resilient to the impacts of climate change. As Project Manager in the Climate team, you will be responsible for developing and leading a diverse portfolio of projects such as Hounslow’s Community Energy Fund, schools’ decarbonisation programme, Climate Change Resilience Plan, Hounslow Green Investment and supporting the management of the Carbon Offset Fund and the Climate Investment Board. You will also provide support when required on other projects such as Hounslow Heat Network and the Strategic Energy Partnership.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In
You will be part of the Climate team within the Strategy and Transformation directorate. Our team is responsible for delivery of the Climate Emergency Action Plan (2026-2030) with emphasis on wider borough emissions reduction, delivering growth, promoting just transition and ensuring Hounslow is resilient to the impacts of climate change. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary project team, regularly collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, under the direction of the Head of Net Zero Delivery.

- Strong knowledge of environmental policy, legislation and regulations related to low carbon infrastructure development and delivery.
- Skilled in partnership working across public and private sectors, including experience working with funders and government departments in a political environment.
- Experience fostering collaborative approaches with external consultants.

About You
- A project leader in the climate and environment field with a passion for delivering transformative environmental change.
- Skilled communicator able to influence a range of non-technical stakeholders at various organisational levels.
- A champion of the council’s values with an open mind towards solutions, a desire to listen to diverse voices, and an ability to embrace and understand the complexity of tackling the climate emergency.
