About the Role
As a Protection & Control Engineer, you will design a range of technical protection and control solutions for EHV substation projects, including both AIS and GIS substations at voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV. Your responsibilities will include producing comprehensive protection and control system design drawings for systems from 11kV up to and including 132kV, developing new protection solutions to meet future smart grid requirements, and integrating protection and SCADA systems to deliver cost-effective design solutions. You will create all associated engineering design calculations and documentation, support the creation of equipment specifications, visit sites to assess project requirements, attend site meetings, and provide ongoing design drawing changes and support during project build. Additionally, you will review designs produced by suppliers and clients to ensure technical compliance with current legislation and policies.
Experience
Proven experience in the design of protection and control schemes. Knowledge of electrical networks and engineering standards. Experience working with main suppliers’ substation control equipment products such as ABB/Hitachi, Siemens, and GE. Familiarity with main standard protocols including IEC 61850 and IEC 60870.

Ability to interpret technical documentation relating to design. Flexible and willing to travel to client offices and sites as required. Full driving licence.
Qualifications
HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
