About the Role
Join Forestry England, a passionate team dedicated to growing the nation’s forests for everyone. As a Recreation Ranger, you will ensure seamless day-to-day visitor operations, maintain a welcoming and safe environment, and deliver excellent visitor experiences. You will actively engage with local communities to cultivate meaningful relationships, develop recreational opportunities, enhance volunteer involvement, and respond to visitor enquiries. Your contribution will enrich the visitor experience, drive efficiencies and income generation, and strengthen community connections. You will work within the Central England Forest District Team, managing diverse forests across a large area including ancient oak-wood and new community forests, serving millions of visitors annually through multiple visitor centres and accessible woodlands.

Requirements

Experience
Relevant experience in visitor management, community engagement, or recreational services is desirable. Experience working in natural or outdoor environments is advantageous.

You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with visitors, volunteers, and local communities. You are committed to delivering high-quality visitor experiences and maintaining safe, welcoming environments. You work well both independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and service improvement.

Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications required, but relevant qualifications or training in forestry, environmental management, recreation, or a related field would be beneficial. You must have the ability to communicate clearly in accurate spoken English. Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal record check and government baseline personnel security standard check.
