Hours
Full Time, Permanent. Fixed-base worker. Weekend work required including Saturdays and Sundays. A 6% flat rate allowance is paid for any Sundays worked.

About the Role
Essex Waste Partnership aims to be a zero-waste county by reducing waste to protect the environment and conserve resources. Join our Recycling Centre Team as a full-time Site Operative at Braintree Recycling Centre. You will assist the public with queries and complaints, maintain a clean and safe site, provide clear instructions to subcontractors and hauliers, operate plant machinery, oversee waste movements, and ensure materials are stored correctly for optimal recycling. You will also ensure compliance with safety standards and contribute to efficient site operations. Administrative support tasks may be required. Occasionally, you may be asked to work at alternative Recycling Centres. The role requires mobility across the operational area, so a driving licence and access to a vehicle or equivalent mobility means are necessary.

Experience
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Ability to work on foot for extended periods
- Experience operating plant machinery is desirable, preferably within the waste industry

About you
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new systems and complete necessary training such as First Aid, Plant Operator, and Fire Marshall
- Able to perform manual handling tasks
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Good administration skills and computer literacy (especially Microsoft Excel and Outlook) are desirable
- Full driving licence is desirable

Qualifications
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety accreditation is desirable
- NPORS or similar Plant Operator Licence/Qualification on Material Handler is desirable
