About the Role
This fixed-term or secondment role (12 months) offers the opportunity to lead and deliver waste reduction schemes, communication campaigns, reuse and recycling initiatives, and partnership activities within Essex, with a focus on the Brentwood area. You will contribute to the development and evaluation of circular economy strategies and waste prevention projects, preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders including funding bodies. The role involves managing project delivery, procurement, governance, and monitoring, while working collaboratively with local authorities and partners to maximise impact. You will also manage communication channels, lead public and stakeholder engagement events (including online delivery), and respond to enquiries from the public and organisations. This position requires a proactive approach to research and benchmarking to stay current with sector advancements and best practices. The role is frontline in delivering environmental communications and supporting wider environment activities as needed.

Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent by experience. Proven expertise in communications, research, and data analysis to support campaign design, development, and evaluation. Broad knowledge of waste management, environmental issues, and circular economy principles. Experience working with brand guidelines and report writing. Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and lead stakeholder engagement events.

Confident communicator with advanced written and oral skills, able to engage a wide range of stakeholders at different levels through various channels. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex situations independently. Creative and effective problem solver with a collaborative approach. Must be mobile throughout the operational area, holding a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle or alternative means to meet mobility requirements.

Qualifications
Degree level education or equivalent experience. Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to communications and environmental sectors.
