About the Role

We are seeking a Regional Director for our Liveable Places Northern England & Scotland region. The Liveable Places Discipline is part of WSP's Local Government business and provides place-based design services predominantly to local authority clients across the country. The Regional Director will have overall accountability for the performance of the Liveable Places business within their region, including leadership of client engagement, people management, and project and business performance. Reporting to the Head of Liveable Places, you will embed a strong client and people culture focused on delivering technically excellent solutions while meeting commercial expectations.

The role involves building a culture aligned with WSP values through effective cross-business collaboration and open communication, enhancing team belonging, and demonstrating visible Health, Safety and Wellbeing leadership. You will manage quality, health & safety, and environmental aspects within the region and undertake key client lead or sponsor roles. You will also fulfil Project Director/Manager responsibilities for Liveable Places projects and support operational matters including budget targets, recruitment, succession planning, and commercial risk management.

Additional responsibilities include increasing integration with our teams in India to enhance right-first-time delivery, supporting bid and tender processes to achieve a success rate of at least 65%, and fostering positive relationships across the Local Government business and wider WSP to enable multi-disciplinary collaboration. You will lead and support Office Leads on performance issues and interface with HR on staff matters.

Experience
Proven experience managing significant client accounts with public and local authority clients. Broad project experience in the Local Government sector. Experience working in a matrix-managed organisation. Significant knowledge and experience delivering multi-disciplinary schemes across the project lifecycle with the ability to act as Project Director.
