As a Regional Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining essential site and land areas across Water and Wastewater Treatment sites. Your work will ensure these sites and associated land remain safe, well-maintained, and compliant with company standards.

You will undertake grounds maintenance, vegetation management, soft landscaping, arboriculture tasks, and building maintenance activities. This includes operating a variety of powered and non-powered plant, tools, and equipment, performing recovery works on operational and non-operational land, and supporting the training of new starters. You will also be responsible for adhering to health and safety regulations and identifying site improvements.

This role involves physically demanding work in outdoor environments with exposure to environmental hazards and sewerage contamination. You will contribute to the delivery of site maintenance plans, ensuring quality, performance, and safety standards are met consistently.

Requirements

Experience
Practical experience in grounds maintenance, vegetation management, soft landscaping, and building maintenance. Confident operation of grounds maintenance machinery including pedestrian mowers, strimmers, blowers, ride-on mowers, tractors, pole saws, and robotics. Ability to plan and deliver scheduled and unscheduled works across multiple sites. Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to carry out dynamic risk assessments and provide excellent customer service.

Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions. Safety conscious with a commitment to following health and safety policies and procedures. Motivated, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Willingness to learn and support others, including contributing to the training of new starters.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence – Category B

Desirable
- City & Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1)
- City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Safe Application of Pesticides using Hand-Held Equipment (PA6/PA6INJ/PA6W)
- NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Manually Fed Wood Chipper Operations
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Safe Use of a Powered Pole Pruner
