We offer a structured pathway into Life Safety & Security engineering, ideal for electricians, installers, or those with a practical background seeking a long-term career in a new sector. Our Safety and Security engineering team is central to our business, with multi-skilled engineers experienced across multiple technologies and product ranges. Customer service and engineering excellence are at the core of what we do.

This role reports to the Lead Supervisor Engineer and includes a structured personal development programme with mentored training linked to progression milestones and salary increments. You will learn on the job alongside experienced colleagues through the Advance at North programme, covering CCTV, Access Control, Fire, and Intruder systems—from basic cabling and installation to commissioning. This provides a fast-track route to becoming a qualified Safety and Security engineer.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop skills and understanding of life safety and security systems through instructor-led face-to-face and online training, and in-house training systems.
- Assist senior engineers with survey, configuration, installation, commissioning, and servicing of Fire and Intruder Alarm systems, CCTV, Access Control, Public Address & Voice Alarm systems.
- Support retrofit upgrades and extensions to existing systems as part of remedial works.
- Provide high levels of customer service.
- Develop an understanding of site plans to support installations based on survey documentation.
- Complete documentation in line with company standards.
- Work within strict Health & Safety guidelines.
- Build knowledge to advise customers on the latest products and services to improve efficiency.

Key Accountabilities
- Ensure assigned work is delivered effectively, on time, and to required quality standards.
- Record all work using business systems and ensure client sign-off.
- Maintain site Health and Safety compliance and escalate issues as needed.
- Represent the company professionally and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

Experience
- Background in a hands-on trade such as electrical, construction, or installation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under senior engineer guidance.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and takes pride in work.
- Keen to develop knowledge of industry-standard products including Bosch, Dahau, Genetec, Gent, Advanced, Gallagher, PAC, Win-Pak, Veracity, and Milestone.

About You
- Practical, reliable, and motivated.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Full clean UK driving licence (must be over 19 due to company insurance policy).
- Ability to work at heights and in various site environments.
- Keen to retrain and develop new skillsets.

Qualifications
- Will have or work towards:
- DBS clearance (required for public sector environments).
- FESS Qualification.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- ECS Card.
- IPAF (Access Platform license).
- PASMA (Scaffold Tower license).
