About the Role
Tetra Tech is a leading technical, engineering, and environmental consultancy delivering market-leading water, environment, infrastructure, energy, and international development solutions across the UK and Europe. We are seeking an experienced Water Risk Assessor to join our Asset Management team and expand into M&E Asset Surveying. This role involves conducting detailed surveys and assessments of mechanical and electrical assets across various client sites, requiring regular travel. As part of the team, you will undertake survey work directed by the Service Lead or Lead Consultant, collaborate closely with colleagues across Asset Management, and ensure the delivery of professional and exceptional client service. You will perform comprehensive on-site surveys of M&E building services assets including HVAC, electrical systems, fire protection, plumbing, and lifts, accurately recording asset condition and lifecycle data using digital tools and asset management software. Additionally, you will support asset register maintenance, assist in data analysis, provide technical insight, produce clear survey reports with recommendations, and contribute to budget forecasting and asset replacement planning. Compliance with health, safety, and security protocols, including SC clearance preparation and maintenance, is essential. Experience
- Proven experience as an M&E surveyor or in a similar asset management or building services engineering role, with up to 3 years of direct experience.
- Knowledge and practical experience in conducting water risk assessments, including legionella risk assessment.
- Experience preparing detailed water risk assessment reports and liaising with maintenance and compliance teams.
- Ability to identify potential water system hazards within MEP assets and recommend risk mitigation measures.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems and relevant UK regulations and standards (ACOP L8, HSG 274, HTM/SHTM).
- Experience with asset management software and digital survey tools.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and excellent written communication.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the UK and occasionally internationally.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Eligible and willing to undergo DBS (CRB) and SC checks if required.

Qualifications
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in water safety and risk assessment.
- Solid understanding of UK water hygiene regulations.
- Desirable: City and Guilds or Water Management Society qualifications in legionella control and risk assessment of domestic water systems.
- Desirable: Background in building services engineering, either as a tradesperson or through M&E design.
- Desirable: Experience within outsourced building services or facilities/asset management roles.
- Desirable: Knowledge of asset management principles and change control within projects.
- Desirable: Experience with web-based (database) software platforms.
