About the Role
Join the Development & Project Management Team at L&Q as a Senior Development Manager. This 12-month fixed term contract role focuses on managing high profile, larger or more complex housing-led delivery projects. You will lead a portfolio of housing delivery and remediation projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the Land team, you will contribute to pipeline opportunities and business case development, including options appraisals, detailed project plans, and risk registers.
You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners such as local authorities, contractors, and consultants, representing L&Q in public forums and governance groups. You will take responsibility for project budgets, financial control, risk identification and mitigation, and ensure compliance with planning, funding, and legal obligations.
Additionally, you will manage and support project staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with health and safety, regulatory, and governance standards.
This role requires an innovative, commercially focused, and risk-conscious individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to rapidly find suitable solutions considering financial and commercial impacts.
Experience
- Strong experience managing complex housing delivery, joint ventures, or construction projects
- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment
- Substantial knowledge of contract law and ability to manage development agreements and build contracts
- Experience mobilizing Land and Planning positions into deliverable housing schemes

Qualifications
- Professional qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, RTPI, RIBA or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of contractual law, planning, development control, and construction practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and business systems with strong coordination and multitasking abilities
