About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Environmental Health Officer to join the ambitious and progressive Shared Environmental Health Partnership at Mole Valley and Tandridge District Councils. You will be a valued member of a friendly and professional team within the Commercial Team, offering a wide range of challenges and opportunities to make a difference and contribute to the success of our shared service whilst developing your own knowledge and management experience.

The role focuses on the inspection of food businesses across all risk categories, including a number of approved establishments, participation in sampling programmes, inspection of workplaces, and completion of nationally and locally agreed targeted health and safety projects. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the risk assessment and monitoring of private water supplies, investigate infectious disease cases, and play a key role in supporting the service’s primary authority partnership agreements with several high-profile businesses.

This role requires flexibility, enthusiasm, good organisational skills, and a strong interest and knowledge of the relevant topics. You will work closely with colleagues, business proprietors, and elected members, so excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.

Experience
You will be qualified and experienced, holding a BSc or MSc in Environmental Health and/or having successfully completed one of the pathways recognised by the CIEH to become a Registered Food Safety Practitioner. Experience of promoting compliance through both supportive and staged enforcement approaches is advantageous, as is a good working knowledge of current legislation.

You will manage your own caseload of food safety, health and safety at work-related inspections, interventions, infectious disease investigations, and service requests relating to commercial premises.

Qualifications
BSc or MSc in Environmental Health and/or successful completion of a CIEH recognised pathway to Registered Food Safety Practitioner status.

A valid driving licence is required.
