About the Role
Broxbourne Council is seeking a Senior Environmental Health Officer to join its Environmental Health Team. The successful candidate will take a lead role in delivering services aimed at improving the quality, safety, energy efficiency, and management of private sector housing within the Borough. You will manage your own housing caseload and work with the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme (HHSRS), including dealing with Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) to ensure legal compliance. The role involves taking enforcement action where necessary and requires excellent customer care skills and the ability to engage effectively with members of the public and landlords. Attendance at landlords’ forums outside office hours will be required. Requirements

Experience
Proven experience managing housing caseloads, applying the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme, and dealing with Houses in Multiple Occupation. Experience in taking enforcement action related to housing conditions is essential.

Excellent customer care skills with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with the public. A full valid driving licence is required. Willingness to attend out-of-hours landlords’ forums. Commitment to the Council’s core values of Teamwork, Innovation, Effectiveness, and Respect.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or Diploma in Environmental Health is required. Ideally registered to practice as an Environmental Health Officer. Up-to-date and detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, Renters' Rights Act, and other relevant legislation relating to housing conditions and licensing of HMOs. Training in HHSRS and a good understanding of housing construction are essential.
