About the Role
Broxbourne Council is seeking a Senior Environmental Health Officer to join its Environmental Health Team. The successful candidate will take a lead role in delivering services aimed at improving the quality, safety, energy efficiency, and management of private sector housing within the Borough. You will manage your own housing caseload and work extensively with the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme (HHSRS), including dealing with Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) to ensure legal compliance. The role involves taking enforcement action when necessary and requires attendance at landlords’ forums outside of office hours. This position demands excellent customer care skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public. Experience
Proven experience in managing housing caseloads, applying the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme, and working with Houses in Multiple Occupation. Experience in taking enforcement action related to housing legislation is essential.
About you
Excellent customer care and communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with the public. A full valid driving licence is required. Willingness to attend landlords’ forums outside normal working hours. Strong knowledge of housing construction and up-to-date understanding of relevant legislation including the Housing Act 2004 and Renters' Rights Act.
Qualifications
A relevant degree or Diploma in Environmental Health is required. Ideally registered to practice as an Environmental Health Officer. Training in the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme (HHSRS) is essential.
