About the Role
Some of the most rewarding work in geoenvironmental consultancy happens on site, where plans meet reality, and the ability to manage complexity, people and competing priorities under pressure makes all the difference. At Stantec, we are looking for a Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant who thrives in that environment and brings the experience to lead it well. This distinctive role combines senior site delivery responsibilities on a major linear infrastructure development in the Northwest with broader geoenvironmental consultancy work from our Warrington or Manchester office. You will provide day-to-day site management and coordination for ground investigation works, organising and managing contractors and subcontractors, maintaining programme and quality oversight, and acting in a Principal Contractor capacity for defined work packages. You will uphold rigorous HSSE standards, maintain accurate site documentation including diaries, progress records, photographic records and quality registers, and escalate technical, programme or safety matters appropriately. Managing interfaces between different work packages, you will keep a clear focus on delivering the work safely, efficiently and to the required standard. During off-site periods, you will contribute to proposals, workplans, data interpretation and technical reporting across the wider ground engineering and Energy and Resources workload. This role requires a practical, organised and technically grounded consultant looking for a dynamic balance between site and office work.
Experience
Relevant experience in geoenvironmental consultancy, ground investigation, contaminated land, engineering geology or ground engineering. Proven track record in arranging, planning and coordinating siteworks including mobilisation, logistics, contractor interfaces and site documentation. Confident in managing contractors and subcontractors, monitoring performance against scope, programme, quality and HSSE requirements, and undertaking Principal Contractor duties for defined work packages.
About you
You hold a degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Geoenvironmental Engineering, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline. You have a sound understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, permits and incident reporting. You maintain accurate, thorough site records demonstrating effective management of complex works. You communicate clearly and confidently with clients, contractors, landowners and multidisciplinary project teams. Practical judgement, organisational discipline and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure are essential. Chartered status or active progress towards it with a recognised professional body is desirable.
Qualifications
A full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to work extended periods at the Northwest project site are essential. An SMSTS qualification is preferred. Additional training such as First Aid at Work, Temporary Works Coordinator, CAT and Genny, Confined Spaces, or Environmental Incident Response would be advantageous.
