This role focuses on contaminated land assessment and remediation projects, offering excellent career development potential including training and mentoring.

Key responsibilities include site work with supervision and management of site investigations, field work such as soil logging, environmental sampling and ground gas monitoring, data collation, review and interpretation, mentoring junior team members, project management, bid preparation support, site investigation design, and preparation of technical reports including desk studies, site investigation reports, remediation studies, and verification reports. You will ensure all work complies with procedures and the highest safety, health, and environmental standards.

The role involves a balance of office and on-site work. Typical activities include Phase 1 Desk Study research and reporting, Phase 2 Site Investigation design and supervision, soil sampling, subcontractor management, risk assessment, and reporting. You will adhere to best technical, engineering, and health & safety practices while communicating effectively with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.

Requirements

Experience
- On-site experience of site investigation and similar field works
- Preparation of Phase 1 contaminated land/geo-environmental desk studies
- Planning, designing, and management of site investigations
- Soil logging
- Knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations in site investigations
- Understanding of UK land contamination regime and risk-based assessment approaches
- Knowledge of mine gas risk assessment process
- Report writing with concise and accurate presentation of information
- Data handling skills; experience with GIS is desirable
- Minimum 4 years post-graduate experience in site investigations, groundwater and ground gas monitoring, sample collection, and contractor supervision (candidates assessed on merit)

Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, health, and environmental compliance. Willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required.

Qualifications
Relevant degree in chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, geography, or environmental science.
