About the Role
Since 1985, Spirit Energy has processed 6.5 trillion cubic feet of gas through our Barrow Gas Terminals, providing heat to 1.5 million homes per year. We focus on safety, environmental sustainability, and community engagement to extend the lifespan of our terminals and maximize team performance. As a Senior HSE Advisor, you will provide direct, sustainable, and reliable HSE support, guidance, and challenge to operations. You will act as an ambassador for Spirit Energy’s Life Saving and House Rules and HSE expectations, promoting a proactive and generative HSE culture through regular site visits and visible leadership.

Your responsibilities will include delivering HSE training, accident and incident investigation, system audits, and advising on HSE best practices. You will assist the HSE Manager in monitoring and reporting HSE performance, identifying trends, and delivering improvement plans. You will support the maintenance of a positive safety culture and behavioural modification tools, maintain emergency response plans, and coordinate exercises to test these plans.

You will also prepare for regulator interventions to ensure compliance, ensure Safety Case and COMAH Report requirements are maintained, assist in risk assessments for large-scale projects, review work packs, and ensure supply chain and contract management expectations are communicated and upheld.

This is an initial one-year contract role based on site at Barrow, offering a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to Spirit Energy’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Experience
- Proven experience in HSE or operational/technical disciplines across multiple operating and project phases.
- Experience working with technically qualified HSE and technical professionals (e.g., Well Engineering, Engineering, Operations).
- Strong knowledge of risk management, compliance, and emergency response routines.
- Track record of developing and executing pragmatic solutions and influencing others.
- Good written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH Certificate minimum; NEBOSH Diploma preferred.
- Professional membership of a relevant institute (e.g., IOSH) or working towards it.
- Offshore BOSIET and Medical desirable but not mandatory.
