About the Role

Join Tetra Tech’s flood risk and drainage team, delivering major infrastructure projects across private and public sectors. You will be responsible for hydraulic modelling and hydrology assessments to support flood risk scheme design and flood risk assessments. Projects range from £2k to £100M, covering defence, transport, local government, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and residential development. You will work independently from project inception, determining methodology, performing hydrological calculations, building and reviewing hydraulic models, calibrating, designing simulations, and reporting in line with best practice. Collaboration with senior management and feasibility-level engineering projects will also be part of your role. You will manage projects independently, act as the client’s main contact, and mentor junior staff. Occasional UK-wide travel and out-of-hours work may be required. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to future proposals and promote flood risk services across the business.
Experience
- Proven experience in developing hydrological studies using UK methodologies such as the Flood Estimation Handbook
- Skilled in hydraulic modelling software including Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, ESTRY, InfoWorks ICM
- Experience delivering flood modelling commissions and flood risk assessments for planning support
- Competence in technical review of hydraulic models produced by others
- Experience engaging with local authorities and the Environment Agency on hydraulic modelling
- Proficient in report writing and presenting to internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of UK flood risk policies such as NPPF, SPP, and TAN15
- Experience consulting with clients, LLFA, EA, and water companies
- Experience managing discharge of conditions for planning applications
- Familiarity with IT systems including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience preparing fee proposals

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
