About the Role

Join Tetra Tech’s flood risk and drainage team, delivering major infrastructure projects across private and public sectors. You will be responsible for hydraulic modelling and hydrology assessments to support flood risk schemes and assessments. Projects range from £2k to £100M and cover sectors including defence, transport, local government, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and residential development. You will work independently from project inception, determining methodology, performing hydrological calculations, building and reviewing hydraulic models, calibrating simulations, and reporting in line with best practices. Collaboration with senior management and feasibility-level engineering projects is also expected. You will manage projects, act as the client’s main contact, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development. Occasional UK-wide travel and out-of-hours work may be required.
Experience
- Developing hydrological studies using UK methodologies such as the Flood Estimation Handbook
- Modelling various flood sources using software like Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, ESTRY, InfoWorks ICM
- Delivering flood modelling commissions and flood risk assessments for planning
- Reviewing hydraulic models produced by others
- Engaging with local authorities and the Environment Agency on technical modelling details
- Writing reports and presenting to internal and external stakeholders
- Applying UK flood risk policies such as NPPF, SPP, and TAN15
- Consulting with clients, LLFA, EA, and water companies
- Managing discharge of conditions for planning applications
- Using IT systems including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Preparing fee proposals

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Chartered with CIWEM or equivalent professional body
