About the Role

At Tetra Tech, you will join a high-performing flood risk and drainage team working on major infrastructure projects across private and public sectors. This role involves hydraulic modelling and hydrology assessments to support flood risk scheme design and flood risk assessment services. You will work independently on technical aspects from project inception, including methodology determination, hydrological calculations, hydraulic model building, quality assurance, calibration, simulation design, and reporting in line with best practices. You will manage projects independently, act as the client’s main point of contact, and mentor junior staff. The role offers opportunities to collaborate on wider engineering projects and contribute to business development. Projects are UK-wide, and occasional travel and out-of-hours work may be required.
Experience
- Proven experience in developing hydrological studies using UK methodologies such as the Flood Estimation Handbook
- Skilled in hydraulic modelling software including Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, ESTRY, InfoWorks ICM
- Experience delivering flood modelling commissions and flood risk assessments for planning applications
- Ability to undertake technical reviews of hydraulic models
- Experience engaging with local authorities and the Environment Agency on hydraulic modelling
- Proficient in report writing and presenting to internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of UK flood risk policy including NPPF, SPP, and TAN15
- Experience consulting with clients, LLFA, EA, and water companies
- Experience in discharge of conditions for planning applications
- Familiarity with IT systems such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience preparing fee proposals

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
- Chartered status with CIWEM or equivalent professional body
