About the Role
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Project Controls Manager to join their team, delivering a broad range of purpose-driven PMO and Controls services across infrastructure and the built environment sectors. This role supports multiple global programmes and involves providing expert project controls leadership on large scale infrastructure projects including water, transport, nuclear, and defence sectors. You will contribute by preparing and critically evaluating performance measures such as earned value, identifying key issues, and driving mitigating or recovery actions. The role requires strong people management and task facilitation skills, alongside experience implementing robust project controls processes and toolsets. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, often acting as a consultant within client environments, ensuring alignment with project requirements and supporting effective project delivery. This position offers the opportunity to work within Mott MacDonald's Advisory and Programme Delivery unit, which provides tailored project, programme, and commercial management services across a wide range of sectors and project scales up to £20bn. Experience
- Proven background working on large scale infrastructure projects in sectors such as water, transport, nuclear, and defence
- Strong analytical skills including earned value management and performance trend analysis
- Experience implementing project controls processes and toolsets
- Proficiency with Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, or other planning and resourcing software
- Risk management and reporting experience, including use of ARM
- Project reporting, KPI monitoring, and project review capabilities
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable working as a consultant within client environments
- Flexibility to travel and work across different sectors and clients

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level and/or hold relevant project controls or management qualifications (e.g. APMG Planning and Controls, EVM, PMQ, Prince2)
- Due to the nature of the role, offers may be conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of security clearance
- Desirable: PMO experience, knowledge or experience using PowerBI, and supporting change management processes
