About the Role
The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) launched its Blue Recovery initiative in 2021, aiming to deliver transformational environmental change in the UK. Wetlands play a critical role in storing carbon, reducing flooding, benefiting wellbeing, and improving water quality, yet these benefits are not widely understood. WWT has formed a consortium of sector-leading organisations to unlock and demonstrate the value of wetland creation, facilitating a network of wetlands that will deliver lasting impact and catalyse wider action.

The ambition is to create and restore 100,000 hectares of healthy wetland in the UK, conceived as four networks:
- A carbon storage network to sequester and store carbon
- A flood management network to reduce flooding
- An urban wellbeing network to improve wellbeing
- A water treatment network to support biodiversity

This Blue Recovery will make a vital contribution to the UK’s environmental and climate change goals.

As Senior Project Development Manager, you will work closely with WWT’s Blue Recovery Leaders Group, a partnership drawn from industries including water, construction, finance, agriculture, and engineering. You will support the group in developing projects that demonstrate the multiple benefits wetlands provide to society. Acting as WWT’s main lead, you will develop project ideas and proposals aligned with WWT’s strategic ambitions.

You will coordinate input from WWT’s Philanthropy & Partnerships, UK Programmes, and Conservation Evidence Teams to ensure successful delivery of the Blue Recovery Leaders Group’s contribution to WWT’s Strategic Plan.
