Hours
Full Time - 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working arrangements are welcomed and can be discussed.

Salary
£37,904 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role
As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of large and complex infrastructure projects that support the organisation’s active travel goals. Your work will create long-term, sustainable benefits for communities by ensuring projects are well planned and delivered to a high standard. This includes managing time, budgets and people effectively, identifying and addressing risks early, and ensuring compliance with legal, safety and policy requirements.
A key aspect of the role is collaboration. You will work closely with partners and stakeholders, build positive working relationships, develop business proposals with colleagues, and support meaningful community engagement to ensure local needs and feedback are integrated throughout project lifecycles.
This role requires strong project management, leadership and strategic thinking skills. You will make clear decisions, provide direction and support to your team, and focus on delivering projects that have a positive and lasting impact on how people walk, wheel and cycle in towns and cities.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee planning, delivery and evaluation of walking, wheeling and cycling projects
- Manage resources, compliance and alignment with organisational goals
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to support effective active travel projects
- Lead, line manage and support a team to maximise performance and development
- Collaborate with Growth & Partnerships and Business Development teams to identify opportunities, develop proposals and secure new funding

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing tangible community impact, working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, identifying and winning new opportunities, guiding and developing others, and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Basic/Enhanced/DBS checks are not required as the role does not involve working with school or community groups.

Requirements

Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject plus at least 4 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in a related role
- Strong knowledge of active travel infrastructure, including spatial and transport planning
- Proven experience in project and programme management, including budget and risk management
- Experience leading, supervising and supporting teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Experience developing project proposals and securing funding from a range of sources
- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk
