About the Role
As a Senior Transport Planner at Camden Council, you will play a key role in delivering the ambitious goals of the Camden Transport Strategy by managing neighbourhood-based Healthy Streets projects. These projects include localised safety schemes, Healthy School Streets (HSS), low-traffic neighbourhood initiatives, bus priority, walking, cycling, traffic reduction, and public realm improvements.

You will be responsible for project managing multiple small to medium-sized Healthy Streets projects across Camden, ensuring schemes are delivered on time and within budget. Your duties will include project planning, feasibility and optioneering, community engagement and consultation, report writing, stakeholder management, monitoring, funding, budgeting, and financial controls.

Working within the Safe & Healthy Streets team, you will support Principal officers and collaborate across departments including planning, regeneration and sustainability, highways, and parking. This cross-departmental work ensures Healthy Streets projects contribute to wider urban planning and sustainability initiatives such as estate regeneration and Camden’s Climate Action Plan.

You will also engage with external partners such as Transport for London, the Greater London Authority, and local communities to help shape projects that connect to Camden’s broader goals of tackling the climate emergency and creating vibrant public spaces.

Examples of current schemes you may lead include Fitzrovia Phase 1 (in construction), St George The Martyr Healthy School Streets (decision made), King Henrys Road Area (nearing construction), and Holmes Road (made permanent).

Camden Council is committed to inclusion and uses anonymised applications to reduce unconscious bias in recruitment.
