About the Role
Tetra Tech Europe, a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, is seeking a Senior or Principal Environmental Planning Consultant to join our growing UK Environment, Sustainability & Planning (ESP) team. This role focuses predominantly on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and offers the opportunity to work on challenging and innovative projects across sectors such as renewables/energy, water/utilities, residential, defence, infrastructure, waste, and minerals. You will be part of a dynamic team, collaborating with technical experts in environmental, planning, sustainability, and project management disciplines.
As a Senior or Principal Consultant, you will manage and support a range of EIA projects within a consultancy environment, with opportunities to broaden your skills in project management, business development, and technical assessments. You will have the chance to influence business outcomes, contribute to thought leadership, and progress your career swiftly within a company committed to high technical standards and professional development.
Our Environmental Planning team is recognised for its excellence, demonstrated through membership of IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark scheme and active involvement in industry working groups and conferences. This role offers a platform to contribute to sustainable development and environmental stewardship through high-quality environmental assessments and impact mitigation.
Experience
- Proven experience in conducting and managing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), including Screening and Scoping, across multiple projects and sectors.
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to EIA processes and compliance, with familiarity of the UK planning and consenting process.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritising tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, local communities, NGOs, and project developers.
- Experience or interest in developing additional technical specialisms such as climate change adaptation and mitigation, socio-economic and human health assessments, natural capital assessments, ESG, digital EIA, AI, and Construction Environmental Management is advantageous.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Ecology, or a related discipline.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. IEMA) is desirable but not essential.
