About the Role
Valoris Group is recruiting a Solar PV Technical Surveyor to join an established and growing renewable energy specialist. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in solar PV, electrical installations or technical surveying who wants to move into a more technical, site-assessment-focused position. This role involves no sales targets or pressure – purely a hands-on technical position within the rapidly growing solar and battery storage industry.
You will visit domestic properties to assess their suitability for solar PV and battery storage installations, gathering the technical information needed to ensure projects are designed and installed correctly. Your responsibilities will include conducting technical site surveys, assessing roof space, measurements, shading and potential panel layouts, identifying suitable inverter, battery and cable route locations, inspecting existing consumer units and electrical arrangements, and identifying potential installation challenges before work begins. You will take site photographs, measurements and detailed technical notes, produce accurate survey reports for design and installation teams, and liaise with engineers, designers and installation teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
This role offers the opportunity to transition from hands-on installation work into a technical surveying position, working within a supportive and experienced team with opportunities to develop your technical knowledge.
Experience
Practical experience in solar PV, electrical installations or technical surveying is highly desirable but not essential. Previous solar PV surveying or installation experience, electrical installation or inspection background, and knowledge of inverters, battery storage and domestic electrical systems are advantageous. Experience using solar surveying software or technical reporting tools is also beneficial.
About you
A practical, technically minded individual with excellent attention to detail. You should have an understanding of electrical installations, solar PV or building layouts, and confidence in taking measurements and identifying installation challenges. Good communication and organisational skills are essential. You should be comfortable using tablets, smartphones and digital reporting systems. A full UK driving licence is required.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this position, but a strong technical understanding and a positive attitude are essential. Candidates currently working as Electricians or Solar PV Installers looking to transition into a technical surveying role are encouraged to apply.
