We are seeking Transport Planners/Development Planners with a strong development-related transport planning background to join our Development team. Your role will involve working on a variety of projects including commercial, retail, and residential developments, contributing to transport strategies, masterplans, and supporting Expert Witness evidence.
You will support private sector clients through the planning process and assist public sector clients with transport and parking strategies and scheme development. The role requires close collaboration with Highways, Services, Structures, and Environmental teams to lead larger multi-disciplinary development proposals.
You will provide day-to-day technical transport planning input on development projects, undertake project management and leadership responsibilities where appropriate, and mentor Early Career Professionals. You will lead transport planning input on small to medium scale projects and assist senior colleagues with complex multi-disciplinary projects. This role offers the opportunity to develop commercial skills and expand your professional network to support business development.
Experience
- Leading technical work on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategy, parking strategies, sustainable transport, and active travel provision
- Working with guidance such as NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets
- Preparing traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements
- Setting up and running junction capacity modelling software such as Junctions 10 and Linsig, including scenario testing
- Project management experience including budget planning, resource planning, and invoicing on small to medium scale projects
- Conceptual junction design including priority, roundabout, and signals
- Excellent communication skills with confidence to lead discussions with clients, project teams, co-professionals, and stakeholders
- Mentoring Early Career Professionals in technical expertise
- Proficiency in day-to-day software such as Excel and Word
- A growing professional network of co-professionals and clients
About you
You are an experienced Transport Planner with significant hands-on postgraduate experience and strong knowledge of development-related transport planning. Ideally, you have or are pursuing chartered status in a transport-related discipline. You are confident, motivated, and passionate about delivering high-quality transport planning solutions and mentoring others.
Qualifications
Chartered status in a transport-related discipline is desirable or you are actively pursuing it. A relevant postgraduate qualification and substantial practical experience in transport planning are expected.
