About the Role
This role focuses on establishing, managing, and investing in strong partnerships with affordable housing providers in the borough, including Tenant Management Organisations, to ensure homes are well maintained and continue to deliver for Brent residents. You will be responsible for maintaining a contact database and relationships with registered providers (including for-profit providers) and act as a key contact within the council for these providers.
You will maintain an updated contact list to facilitate engagement between the Council and registered providers operating in the borough, aiming to raise the profile of services available for Brent residents. You will manage contracts with two Tenant Management Organisations as well as two partnership contracts: a Private Finance Initiative and a Private Public Partnership.
The role involves leading focus groups with Social Housing Providers and residents to better understand responses to high priority topics within the social housing sector, including Building Safety, Damp and Mould, Complaints Management, and Net Zero Carbon.
You will coordinate quarterly meetings between senior managers and the relevant Cabinet member within the Council and senior managers within the largest Social Housing Providers operating in Brent. This includes scheduling meetings, publishing agendas, and taking accurate minutes.
You will ensure all governance is followed across various contracts and maintain key documents such as risk registers, action trackers, and financial monitoring.
Additionally, you will support the service in preparing for inspections and audits carried out by Central Government or internal colleagues and lead on coordinating information sharing.
All duties must be carried out with due regard to the Council’s Customer Care, Equal Opportunities, Information Governance, Data Protection, Health and Safety, and Emergency Planning & Awareness policies and procedures.
Experience
- Knowledge of the social housing sector including relevant policy and regulations
- Experience and knowledge of key organisations including the Housing Ombudsman
- Experience of working with elected members
- Experience of managing contracts, service level agreements, and memorandums of understanding with strong attention to detail and governance

- Understanding of the roles and remits of the Regulator for Social Housing, Greater London Authority, and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities
