About the Role
Help us create a better future, quicker by supporting the SPT Sustainability Specialist (Biodiversity), Sustainability Department, and Engineering and Construction staff to deliver, monitor, and review the RIIO-T3 Environmental and Sustainability commitments with a focus on nature. You will support the continued implementation and improvement of the company’s Sustainability goals and provide specialist knowledge and advice to internal and external parties for the engineering and construction of energy-related projects.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of Sustainability and Environmental commitments within the T3 £11bn Capex programmes to the required timescales agreed in the business plan, setting strategic plans with all key stakeholders to ensure commitments are met, and highlighting and addressing any blockers to achieving these commitments to management. You will also support the delivery of biodiversity enhancement schemes across the SPT Licence area.

This role involves providing support and advice on nature impacts and solutions to project teams prior to and throughout construction, developing and implementing new methods, techniques, and practices to improve sustainability performance with a focus on nature outcomes, and supporting strategies to achieve nature positive across SP Transmission. You will undertake environmental cost benefit analyses, baseline and analyse SPT projects and offsite nature enhancement schemes, deliver biodiversity enhancement initiatives and compensatory planting requirements, manage and analyse data, and support project-level sustainability processes.

Additional duties include impact analysis of new legislation, regulations, and standards, engaging and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, supporting regulatory report submissions, delivering pilot sustainability projects or innovation trials, and supporting the delivery of the RIIO-3 Environmental Action Plan.

SP Energy Networks is part of the Iberdrola Group, a global leader in renewable energy, committed to Scotland’s Net Zero ambition by 2044. This role offers excellent career progression opportunities and support within a diverse and inclusive environment.
