About the Role
As the site Environmental Engineer, you will be responsible for managing environmental compliance, conducting assessments, and implementing programs to minimise environmental impact and support sustainability. You will work closely with UK cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance are met. Reporting to the site Operations Lead, you will be onsite at PPG’s Shildon Aerospace facility. Our mission is to drive leading performance in EHS Environmental performance to protect and beautify our customers' operations and products, protect our employees, and preserve the environments in which we operate.

Key responsibilities include monitoring environmental regulations and ensuring organizational compliance; managing reporting and permit renewal processes; maintaining environmental training programs covering Air, Waste, Wastewater, Storm Water, and SPCC; managing and updating site Environmental Impact Assessments; overseeing waste management programs; supporting supplier selection for environmental site aspects; preparing reports and documentation for regulatory agencies; educating and training employees on environmental issues and compliance requirements in conjunction with the site learning and development team; coordinating with government agencies, consulting firms, and other stakeholders regarding environmental permits and regulations; managing site emergency response and contingency plans; investigating environmental incidents and recommending corrective actions; promoting sustainable practices within the organization; and monitoring and recording data to drive decision making towards continuous improvement in sustainability.

Experience
Minimum 3 years managing environmental compliance. Familiarity with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA is desirable. Proven experience in environmental monitoring and reporting.

Strong understanding of environmental legislation, sustainability frameworks, and ISO 14001. Ability to analyse data and assess environmental risks. Skilled in implementing projects to improve environmental performance. Effective at training staff and liaising with regulators and stakeholders. Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is required.
