About the Role
Join WSP’s Mining and Metals business in the UK & Ireland as a Technical Director focused on mine waste projects. This leadership role involves delivering consulting services for mine waste storage facilities, tailings deposits, stability and seepage analysis, and closure design. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and modellers from conceptual design through to detailed design and operational phases. Your responsibilities include providing specialised technical input on tailings management, water impoundments, waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, and geosynthetic materials engineering for projects worldwide. You will lead and mentor a team, support project delivery including time, budget, and quality control, prepare technical reports and proposals, and contribute to team strategy and global technical practice groups. This role offers exciting opportunities to travel internationally and represent WSP on site, promoting a safety-first culture and adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and Equality Policy.
Experience
- Demonstrated technical leadership, collaboration, and delivery in mine waste and tailings projects
- Substantial experience in mine waste disposal/facilities and geotechnical engineering
- Proven track record delivering large, multi-disciplinary projects on time and on budget
- Experience working with national and international design guidelines and regulations
- Ability to interpret and monitor geotechnical results and design structures
- Experience managing and working effectively within diverse teams
