We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Leader in Environment and Sustainability to lead our well-established water resources planning environmental assessment business. This role offers the chance to shape industry-leading approaches to water resource planning and environmental assessment, addressing complex challenges alongside top-tier clients.
In preparation for the dynamic AMP8 period, this role will provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure successful delivery of high-profile water resource projects. You will join our Environmental & Sustainability Services (ESS) team, a growing network of professionals across 18 UK offices, recognised for best practice in Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Natural Capital Assessment, and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessment.
Key responsibilities include driving strategic direction for environmental assessment across AMP8 water resource projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, fostering innovation and sustainable outcomes, engaging strategically with clients and stakeholders, and leading business development to grow our water sector portfolio.
Experience
- Substantial experience in strategic leadership and business development within water resource planning.
- Proven track record in environmental assessment for water resources including Water Resource Management Plans, Regional Water Resource Plans, Drought Plans, and Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans.
- Experience working in diverse, multi-disciplined teams and leading delivery of environmental and sustainability outputs.
- Strong client-facing experience with ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
- Well organised with strong planning, management, and budget oversight skills.
- Ability to problem solve creatively and drive continual improvement.

Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical subject.
- Desirable: Master's degree in a related field.
- Chartered status with a professional institution such as CIWEM or ISEP is advantageous.
- Strong network within the water sector is preferred.
