About the Role
The Trainee Environmental and Sustainability Advisor will support operational teams across Scotland by providing advice and guidance on environmental and sustainability management. This role involves travel to various project sites to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards while fostering a culture of continual improvement. You will engage with clients, regulators, and local stakeholders to meet their requirements and support on-site mitigation and sustainability efforts. Full training and support will be provided by the Omexom Environmental Team to develop your skills and knowledge in this field. Key responsibilities include advising on environmental matters, supporting sustainability activities, investigating environmental incidents, ensuring on-site compliance, and producing reports such as case studies and toolbox talks. The role also involves awareness and application of biodiversity net gain, carbon emissions management, embodied carbon, and industry sustainability targets within infrastructure projects.

Requirements

Experience
Basic knowledge of environmental management and sustainability issues including Water Environment, Ecology, and Archaeology is essential. Practical experience and knowledge of environmental projects and understanding of the construction operating environment are desirable.

About you
You are an excellent communicator and a commercially focused self-starter with enthusiasm, motivation, and initiative. You have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish effective networks internally and externally. You are self-motivated and able to motivate staff at all levels. Flexibility to work from home, office, and site is required along with a full UK driver's licence and willingness to travel across Scotland.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level in Environmental Science or Environmental Management is desirable. Membership of an Environmental Body (e.g. IES, IEMA) is advantageous. Experience using ESRI ArcGIS and data management skills are also beneficial.
