About the Role
Cawood Scientific Limited is the largest independent provider of analytical laboratory testing and sampling services for the land-based industries in the UK, operating across 15 sites nationwide. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business with plenty of scope for career progression. As a Trainee Environmental Technician, you will conduct routine environmental monitoring across our three service areas: Water, Construction, and Compliance, following company protocols, quality assurance standards, and client contract specifications. Your responsibilities will include routine checks and maintenance of environmental control systems and client infrastructure, providing a professional and reliable service to clients on-site, and building long-term positive relationships. You will represent Enitial in the field, maintaining a positive image by keeping equipment, vehicles, and PPE clean and well-maintained. You will work collaboratively within your regional team, reporting any deviations or non-conformances that could impact data integrity. Efficient time management and accurate data handling are essential, as is identifying opportunities to improve client sites and benefit the company commercially. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to proactively report accidents or near misses and comply with all company safety policies, including the ‘Stay Safe’ remote working application. Additionally, you will assist with on-site training of new employees and provide routine administrative support such as expenses and vehicle checks.
Experience
No prior experience is required; this role is ideal for individuals eager to learn and develop their skills in environmental monitoring and fieldwork.

You should be able to work well both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism when liaising with clients. A proactive approach to safety and quality is essential, along with good organizational skills and attention to detail. A willingness to travel to various sites and work outdoors in different conditions is important.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this position, but a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to delivering high-quality work are essential. Any relevant environmental, scientific, or technical qualifications would be advantageous but are not mandatory.
